The Brookside Road, Uttoxeter Ultra-Rapid Charging Hub combines ultra-rapid EV charging with retail and food and beverage (F&B), creating a convenient roadside destination for drivers.

Delivered by The EV Network (EVN) in partnership with bp pulse, the site features five ultra-rapid chargers (10 charging bays) alongside a Starbucks Drive Thru, which was designed and constructed by EVN as part of the wider development.

Located alongside Lidl and close to Tesco, Waitrose, CineBowl and Uttoxeter railway station, the hub serves commuters, local residents and drivers travelling through the area.

Behind The Build

Brookside Road demonstrates EVN’s ability to deliver commercial construction and EV infrastructure through a single, coordinated project.

Working alongside bp pulse, EVN managed the construction of both the ultra-rapid charging hub and the Starbucks Drive Thru, coordinating contractors, consultants and stakeholders throughout every stage of delivery.

Managing the entire project under one delivery team ensured a consistent approach from construction through to completion, resulting in a high-quality destination for both partners and customers.

The project was successfully managed by James Naish, Head of Project Delivery, who oversaw the delivery of both the Starbucks Drive Thru and the bp pulse ultra-rapid charging hub from construction through to completion.

“Brookside Road was a significant milestone, both for The EV Network and for me personally. It was EVN’s first Drive Thru development, and the first I had delivered in my role as Senior Project Manager.

The project brought together commercial construction and ultra-rapid EV charging as one coordinated development, and the experience proved invaluable for my own development. It gave me the opportunity to expand my project delivery experience, work across new disciplines and apply those learnings to future EV infrastructure projects.

More than four years later, it remains a site I am proud to have delivered and a strong example of how well-planned charging destinations can create value for drivers, CPOs, landowners and surrounding businesses.”
