Breaking ground on one of Europe's largest EV projects

Our CEO (Reza Shaybani) Chairman (The Rt Hon. the Lord Barker of Battle) and lead Project Manager (Mike Denham) all attended to see the ground breaking of what will become one of Europe's largets charging hubs.

EVN are the developer and investors in this strategically located project which will be operated by BP Pulse, one of EVN’s CPO partners. This charging station will be the first of its kind at this scale, representing a major step forward in the transition to a low-carbon transportation system.

Located at the heart of the UK road network, with an annual traffic count of over 60 million, the charging hub will be easily accessible to a wide range of visitors. The NEC with over 750 events and over 7 million visitors annually, is the UK's leading live events business with world-class expertise in venue and destination management. Birmingham International rail interchange hosting over 22M visitors and Birmingham Airport with over 12M passengers. The charging hub is a key part of the NEC's sustainability strategy.

Phase one of this ambitious project will transform one of the largest car parks in the NEC into a state-of-the-art charging hub for electric vehicles, powered by renewable energy sources.

The charging hub will feature over 180 points, 150 AC points and 32 ultra-fast charge points and the site will host a large Starbucks Coffee drive-thru, showcasing the potential ‘forecourt of the future’.

It will be powered by renewable energy sources, including a utility-scale battery storage system and a state-of the- art LED solar-powered canopy. The hub will be designed, developed, and built by the EV Network, a leading EV charging infrastructure development company. This project is of key national importance in the UK’s developing EV infrastructure, the NEC and EV Network are committed to promoting sustainability and education on electric transportation and look forward to welcoming electric vehicle drivers to the forecourt of the future.
